Hair: structure
Shaft. The visible part of the hair is the shaft. The shaft has three layers (medulla, cortex, cuticle) composed of cells containing keratin. Root. The hair follicle or root is a kind of tapered introflection of the epidermis in the derma, inclined at an angle of about 75°. Bulb. All the reproductive functions giving rise to the formation of the new hair occur inside the bulb.
