Shaft. The visible part of the hair is the shaft. The shaft has three layers (medulla, cortex, cuticle) composed of cells containing keratin.
Root. The hair follicle or root is a kind of tapered introflection of the epidermis in the derma, inclined at an angle of about 75°.
Bulb. All the reproductive functions giving rise to the formation of the new hair occur inside the bulb.
